Animal Cardiology
Your pet’s heart is a muscle that has to work all day, every day. There are many diseases and abnormalities that can cause the heart not to pump as well as it should, which means that heart diseases can affect your pet all day, every day, dramatically affecting your pet’s quality of life. We offer screening tests for heart murmurs, congenital abnormalities, and cardiac diseases that show up later in life, as well as specific cardiac tests such as echocardiograms and electrocardiograms. An echocardiogram an ultrasound of the heart, which allows your pet’s veterinarian to measure how thick the heart’s muscular walls are, how well the heart contracts, and how well the valves are working. Your pet’s veterinarian can also prescribe the appropriate medications after a successful diagnosis, to keep your pet’s heart as healthy as possible. Some symptoms of diseases of the heart may include exercise intolerance, lethargy, collapse, and difficulty breathing. It is important for your pet to see the veterinarian if your pet has any of these symptoms.
Dentistry and Oral Care
Dental care is vital to the overall health of any animal. Dental disease leads to health issues with the heart, liver, and kidneys, and can affect the entire body through the bloodstream. In fact, 80 percent of dogs and 70 percent of cats over three years of age suffer from some form of dental disease, making it the most common pet health issue among our pet population in Lanoka Harbor, NJ.

In spite of these disturbing facts, many pet owners are not aware of the importance of dental care to their pet’s health. There are a lot of different ways to improve your pet’s dental hygiene, including home brushing, dental chews, and regular inspection.

The most effective way to protect your pet from dental disease is through professional cleanings. We perform thorough cleanings, including the area beneath the gums that you can’t see or access at home.

If your pet has brown/yellow teeth, bad breath, or is having difficulty eating, these could all be signs of dental disease. Please call us today to learn more and schedule your pet’s dental cleaning.

House Calls
We understand that it is not always possible to bring your pet to our clinic. That is why we offer house calls and see animals in your own home.

There are many challenges in caring for an animal that cannot be moved from their location for one reason or another. Please let us know of any specific requests or conditions that will require special attention. We promise to communicate with you throughout the process to make sure it goes smoothly for you and your animal.

Mobile Pet Ultrasound
At Lanoka Oaks Veterinary Center in Lanoka Harbor, NJ, we offer state-of-the-art medical technology. One of the diagnostic tools we use is ultrasound, which creates images of the inner workings of the body.

Ultrasound uses sound waves to offer a non-invasive, painless, and radiation-free method of imaging your pet’s internal organs. This is one of the many ways we are dedicated to providing your pet with the best care possible.

By using ultrasound, we have yet another powerful tool at our disposal to detect, diagnose, and prevent illness in your pet.

Physical Therapy for Pets
If your dog has been injured, one of the best ways to improve muscle mass and hasten your pet’s recovery is with physical therapy. Our knowledgeable staff can direct you in providing safe, muscle building exercises for your pet. These exercises may range from simple sit-to-stands to more progressive activities targeting specific muscles or groups of muscles. Whether your pet has had surgery to repair a cruciate ligament, requires passive range of motion after a back injury, or needs specific stretches for muscle sprains and strains, our staff is ready to work with you to develop a physical therapy program for your pet’s recovery.
Animal Chiropractic Services
Just as humans can, animals can experience health benefits from chiropractics. The alignment if the spine is tied to numerous health issues, many of which can be resolved through chiropractic care.

Animals can benefit greatly from spinal adjustments, reducing pain or discomfort associated with medical conditions. We are highly trained and knowledgeable when it comes to chiropractic care, so you can rest assured your animal is in good hands.

Diagnostic Services
We have state of the art diagnostic tools that allow our staff to diagnose your pet’s condition or illness better. It is our commitment to stay on the cutting edge of diagnostic technology.

Having these advanced diagnostic tools allows us to examine specific areas more closely and provide a quicker and more accurate diagnosis.

We use many tools such as radiology, lab tests, and various other equipment and tests.

Microchip Identification
At Lanoka Oaks Veterinary Center, we are happy to offer microchipping. Every year, thousands and thousands of pets go missing. Not knowing where your pet is or how to bring them back can be a helpless, hopeless feeling. It’s a tragedy that happens all too often.

But there is a simple, safe, and effective way to ensure your pet’s safety and retrieval should they ever become lost. Microchipping is a standard procedure that implants a tiny chip underneath your pet’s fur. It is a painless and relatively fast procedure and is completely safe.

This microchip is registered with your pet’s vital information and can be scanned by any veterinarian or animal shelter so that they can return your pet directly to you.

Save yourself the heartache and stress of a lost pet. Microchips bring pets home.

Pet Euthanasia and Cremation
Saying goodbye to your pet can be extremely difficult, and the process can be emotionally and mentally draining. We don’t want you to be alone in the end stages of a pet’s life, and we promise to do everything we can to make it easier for you and your pet. Most of all, we promise to treat each case with compassionate and understanding care.

Knowing when the time is right can be a difficult choice. There are many factors that go into deciding to euthanize a pet, and it is a personal issue that differs from pet owner to pet owner. But every pet owner is inevitably faced with making that tough decision, and we want to be there alongside you to aid in any way we can.

If you have special requests, please let us know and we will be sure to accommodate them. Dealing with the end of a pet’s life is never easy, but we want to do whatever we can to make the process less difficult. Please contact us today to learn more about our hospice and euthanasia services.

We are proud to provide Lanoka Harbor, NJ, and surrounding communities with state-of-the-art veterinary surgical procedures. We believe in utilizing the highest level of medical technology, and our surgeons are experienced and highly trained.

We also realize that it can be stressful to have your pet undergo surgery. We want to assure you that your pet is in good hands and that we will do everything to provide the best care possible.
